Nobody walks out the door in the morning thinking this is the day I’m going to have an emergency situation. But the reality is, emergency situations happen every day and most people do not carry the most basic of medical and contact information. Are you and your family prepared? Will first responders know how to properly treat you or your loved one? First responders are trained to look for ICE information, but most people do not carry even basic health information. For those that do, it is often hard to find or illegible to be helpful for emergency personnel. Don’t let first responders work blind when treating you or your family members. Will you be contacted immediately? Most people do not carry adequate contact information that is easily accessible for emergency personnel to find, access and read. Ensure that you will be with your loved ones when they need you most by having all your family members carry the ICEcard. How will doctors know about health conditions? High blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, allergies, cancer treatments, prescription medications – these are just a few examples of important health information that may factor in to how doctors diagnose and treat patients in emergency situations. Take the guess work out of medical treatment by carrying the ICEcard. What is your family’s safety and peace of mind worth? Every day we work to care for our families and keep them safe. Unfortunately we cannot be with our loved ones at every moment. Nearly 100,000 people die each year due to not being cared for properly in case of an emergency. Don’t let your family become a statistic. For $9.99 you can have the peace of mind that the ICEcard will speak for you and your loved ones when they can’t speak for themselves. If I am healthy, why would I need The ICEcard? Unfortunately, we can’t predict when the ICEcard and information would be needed—a car accident, a heart attack, an assault. Without the proper information, treatment could be delayed as first responders determine that there were no other medical conditions. In addition, the ICEcard is not just about medical information, it also ensures that your family is promptly contacted in an emergency situation. Why should my children have the ICEcard? Ask yourself these questions: Would your children be able to provide appropriate information In Case of Emergency? Do they know contact phone numbers—home and office? What about medications or allergies? And, what if they are scared or unconscious? If you have teens or college age children, how would emergency personnel know to contact you if they are injured or in an accident? Many of the same concerns apply to parents and grandparents, friends and co-workers. The ICEcard ensures that clear, accurate and accessible information is readily available to emergency personnel. I wear a MedicAlert bracelet, why should I have The ICEcard? A MedicAlert bracelet is a great place to start to ensure your safety, but typically it only identifies the medical condition, not medications or allergies and does not include emergency contact information. Why would I need The ICEcard if I carry this information with me in another format? The ICEcard is recognizable and easily visible any place in your wallet due to its red color, the distinctive tab with the Caduceus and “ICEcard.” First responders look for this. The ICEcard takes away the guesswork and gives first responders the necessary information. I have my emergency contact information in my cellphone under ICE. Isn’t that sufficient? First responders express their concerns that in an accident phones may be destroyed or lost, and when several people are involved, they may not know which phone belongs to which victim. Plus there are so many different phones and features, they may not be familiar with your model to access your contact information promptly. Phone numbers alone do not specify the name or relationship of the contact and this method does not provide immediately accessible medical information. The ICEcard is a more complete solution. What does the ICEcard cost? The ICEcard cost $9.99 each plus shipping and handling. The specific design of the ICEcard, a sturdy plastic with raised tab to ensure it is quick and easy to find, makes it different from other ICE cards available. Consider that for about $10 each -- less than what many of us spend each week on our coffee habit -- you can protect your loved ones and give yourself peace of mind. What is that worth to you and your family? What if an ICEcard is lost or if I need to update a card when contact or medical information has changed? If ICEcard information changes and needs to be updated, you would need to re-order your ICEcard with the updated information. In the future, we hope to offer other replacement options that make reordering easier. How secure is my personal information? Your privacy is of great concern to us. We have instituted policies intended to ensure that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. We will never share your personal information with third parties, mailing lists or data collection services. All information provided is used solely by the ICEcard. I am still not comfortable putting down my medical information. If you choose NOT to list your medical information, then we encourage you to make sure your emergency contacts are aware of any medical conditions, allergies or medications you may be taking. How secure is my credit card information? The credit card data is processed by Authorize.Net, which handles transactions for 200,000+ merchants. Personally identifiable consumer information is used only to process payment transactions.
