I wear a MedicAlert bracelet, why should I have The ICEcard?

I have my emergency contact information in my cellphone under ICE. Isn’t that sufficient?

First responders express their concerns that in an accident phones may be destroyed or lost, and when several people are involved, they may not know which phone belongs to which victim.  Plus there are so many different phones and features, they may not be familiar with your model to access your contact information promptly.  Phone numbers alone do not specify the name or relationship of the contact and this method does not provide immediately accessible medical information.  The ICEcard is a more complete solution.

What if an ICEcard is lost or if I need to update a card when contact or medical information has changed?

If ICEcard information changes and needs to be updated, you would need to re-order your ICEcard with the updated information.  In the future, we hope to offer other replacement options that make reordering easier.

How secure is my personal information? 

Your privacy is of great concern to us.  We have instituted policies intended to ensure that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner.   We will never share your personal information with third parties, mailing lists or data collection services.  All information provided is used solely by the ICEcard.

I am still not comfortable putting down my medical information.

If you choose NOT to list your medical information, then we encourage you to make sure your emergency contacts are aware of any medical conditions, allergies or medications you may be taking. 

How secure is my credit card information? 

The credit card data is processed by Authorize.Net, which handles transactions for 200,000+ merchants.  Personally identifiable consumer information is used only to process payment transactions.
